VAI Updates S2K Pharmaceutical Solution to Help Customers Maintain DSCSA Compliance

April 27, 2020

Ronkonkoma, N.Y. - April 27, 2020 - VAI, a leading ERP software developer, today announced new updates to its S2K Pharmaceutical solution, enabling customers to receive serialized data through Electronic Product Code Information Services (EPCIS); a format for sharing data electronically in order to provide users with a shared view of physical or digital business assets. These updates will better prepare customers to comply with the final implementation of the 2013 Drug Supply Chain Security Act (DSCSA) law, which issues guidelines to identify and trace particular prescription drugs as they are distributed in the United States.

Not only will this integration help customers remain compliant, but it will also enhance the FDA’s ability to help protect consumers from exposure to stolen, contaminated, or counterfeit drugs. Specific to the Pharmaceutical industry, EPCIS is the designated format for Serialized data according to the 2013 Drug Quality and Security Act (DQSA). EPCIS is designed to grant the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) authority to regulate and monitor the manufacturing of compounded drugs. Plans for sending serialized data are in progress as VAI continues to work with the supply chain.

VAI S2K Pharmaceutical is a completely integrated ERP software solution that helps pharmaceutical companies ensure that industry-specific regulations and institutional requirements are met. The software has helped companies to lower costs and increase customer satisfaction.

VAI’s integrated Verification Router Service (VRS) solution supports the DSCSA’s 2019 requirement for verification of saleable returns and has been in place to meet the original deadline. The solution works with several providers, such as LSPedia and Adents, who cover all track and trace needs, with options for TraceLink and rfXcel in progress.

“Pharmaceutical wholesalers receive $60 million in returned packages annually, and not having an integrated tracing solution would completely disrupt their operations,” said Claudio Gallina, vice president - pharmaceutical division. “Pharmaceutical warehouse receivers processing customer returns run the S2K Pharmaceutical software to streamline the return process, which can do the verifications needed without the receiver having to add another system in the processes.”

“As a result of these updates, VAI S2K Pharmaceutical customers will benefit from a quicker and more efficient return process,” said Gina Parry, distribution and pharmaceutical sales manager at VAI. This will also help them maintain compliance by keeping records that they complied with verification of saleable returns requirements.”
