VAI Shares Predictions for the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Industry in 2017

IT Innovations to Continue Driving Business Growth and Improving ROI

Ronkonkoma, N.Y. – December 12, 2016 – VAI (Vormittag Associates, Inc.), a leading ERP software provider, today announced its predictions for how technology will affect the ERP landscape and drive business development in 2017.

“This past year, it has become clearer than ever that business processes must be technology-focused in order to meet customer demand,” said Bob Vormittag, Sr., CEO of VAI. “At VAI, we strive to help our customers meet this demand while also improving business efficiency and productivity, which is why our focus will continue to be on technological innovation. Based on lessons learned from 2016, cloud computing, mobile, analytics, and ERP capabilities that improve ROI will be driving forces in the 2017 ERP market.”

For 2017, VAI’s top three predictions are as follows:

  1. Cloud computing will become increasingly essential. Cloud computing offers businesses greater flexibility, lower infrastructure cost and built-in disaster recovery. Using the cloud to host a company’s ERP solution enables teams to lower operations overhead and handle analytics data at a larger capacity.

Using an on-premise ERP system requires the company to manage a host of information and processes, including applications, data, runtime, middleware, operating system, virtualization, storage, networking and disaster recovery. By using a cloud solution, companies only need to manage applications and data. This means that with a cloud solution, businesses do not need to have staff specifically dedicated to managing infrastructure—these resources can be used elsewhere.

  1. Connectivity equals productivity. Today, ERP Systems have a multitude of capabilities that can be accessed through mobile devices. These devices allow businesses to perform functions such as input order updates, access sales analytics and fully synch data with their ERP all while on the move. Through these real-time updates, companies are fully in sync with their products and employees.

  2. Leveraging ERP technology, automation and business intelligence improves ROI. Trends from 2016 demonstrate that leveraging technology to facilitate day-to-day operations will continue to positively impact organizations’ bottom lines. Examples of capabilities that have had and will continue to have positive ROI results include suggested purchasing, warehouse management, and business analytics.

Through suggested purchasing, and predictive analytics, businesses can leverage historical sales data to forecast demand and predict long-term trends, and also look at future trends. Warehouse management allows businesses to improve order and route management while integrating with other technologies such as voice picking, which is particularly useful in the food industry. Finally, business analytics dashboards allow companies to view data surrounding inventory, demand and performance information at each stage of the supply chain.
