Leading ERP Developer Unveils VAI University, a Learning Program Developed for Recent College Graduates

Ronkonkoma, N.Y. – February 16, 2018 – VAI, a leading ERP software developer, today announced the establishment of its post-graduate learning and development initiative, VAI University. The program encourages recent college graduates to participate in an eight week training course to aid in the transition from school to the workforce, enabling the company to bring in new talent and diversify its employee base.

The company created VAI University in 2017 to provide students with valuable work experience that is unattainable in the classroom, and give them the opportunity to develop business knowledge and sharpen their programming skills. Through this program, VAI is able to recruit young professionals for the company’s ERP software programming departments. VAI University allows recent graduates to join a structured curriculum consisting of: technical and business lessons, take-home assignments, shadowing of employees in different departments of the company, and a mentor pairing. VAI enables recent graduates to learn the fundamentals of business, while also implementing their programming skills in real-life situations.

“The VAI University eight week curriculum is designed so that recent college graduates can get a full understanding of VAI and the technology we use, along with getting hands-on experience in multiple departments like accounting and business management,” said VAI University mentor, Dr. Anne T. Galante, Senior Programmer/Analyst of VAI Food Division. “As a result of this curriculum, the new programmers become versatile assets to their departments because they have received experience in the diverse workings of the company—not just in programming.”

VAI University has strengthened VAI’s relationship with its community through its involvement in college job fairs and open communication with local colleges and universities. The program has brought jobs to young people in the nearby community, and VAI plans to invite more graduates in the spring of 2018 to participate in the second installment of the VAI University program.

“We’re very happy with the results of our first year of VAI University and we are excited to refine the program and see what the 2018 graduates bring to the table,” said Lisa Vormittag, CFO of VAI. “The first rotation of VAI University employees have really melded well into their new roles and complement their respective departments by adding fresh ideas and new perspectives that we wouldn’t normally receive from seasoned professionals.”
