S2K Enterprise for Metals Finite Scheduler

The S2K Enterprise for Metals Finite Scheduler is a finite scheduling program that can be launched directly from the Finite Scheduling, Daily Transaction Processing menu. The program creates a finite capacity schedule based on the planned capacity reflected in the shop calendar for each dept/work center/machine. By establishing rules for each production facility, the finite scheduling program will generate a schedule of orders in the desired sequence using a finite forward method. The rules may include virtually any field in the system (due date, priority, user defined fields, etc.), and may be sequenced by the user.

Typically, the manufacturing orders are sequenced first by line item due date. Manufacturing orders are sorted by the finite scheduler beginning with the earliest MO line item due date. Thereafter, the additional rules are applied, and when the process is complete, a graphical schedule is presented.

To apply additional rules to the scheduling process, select the appropriate option under the rules option in Finite Scheduling, File Maintenance. The application of rules allows the scheduler to consider efficiencies in sequencing operations to minimize setup time and maximize resource capacity. The rules are applied when sequencing operations of the selected rule. For example, if color change over is a component of your rules, the system will minimize change over time based on a table created in the look up table option in finite scheduling file maintenance.

All unscheduled orders are applied, based on the rules above, in order to generate a suggested schedule. The user maintains the ability to override any of the scheduled entries in a graphical point and click fashion.
