HIA to honor several Long Island firms in September awards ceremony

Ronkonkoma, N.Y. -- August 14, 2007 -- VAI (Vormittag Associates, Inc.)
today announced it has been named a winner in the Business Achievement Awards presented by the Hauppauge Industrial Association (HIA). VAI was named in the Large Business Achievement category.

“HIA's Annual Business Achievement Award competition focuses attention on the accomplishments of the local business community,” stated Terri Alessi – Miceli, President of the HIA. “It is a great opportunity to gain the recognition they deserve for their growth, leadership and overall commitment to our region.”

Judging was based on the company’s commitment to the growth or betterment of the Long Island community, positive employer/employee relations, revenue and profitability trends and future company vision. Companies were also able to point out any recent outstanding accomplishments, technical innovations, market expansion, industry leadership or triumph over adversity in their bid for the award.

"Receiving the Large Business Achievement Award from the HIA is a great honor for VAI and for the VAI team. Our formula for future expansion is customer driven product development, employee growth opportunities, and most importantly, continuous enhancement of our support and services that exceeds our customer’s expectations,” said Bob Vormittag, President, VAI.

This year’s winners and finalists include Clear Vision Optical, VAI (Vormittag Associates, Inc.), UCP of Greater Suffolk, Dr. Sheri Glazer D.D.S., Portnoy, Messinger, Pearl & Associates, Satty, Levine & Ciacco, CPA’s, The Garage Eatery, All Island Media, IVCi, Education & Assistance Corporation, Good Shepherd Hospice, accesslinx and ResponseLink.

In addition, award-winning companies will have an opportunity to display their products and services and to speak about their company for government dignitaries and Long Island business leaders.

"Long Island firms face many obstacles," said Ann Marie Scheidt, Co-Chair of HIA's Business Development Committee. "But they've proven over and over that they have the talent and resourcefulness to overcome those obstacles and forge ahead. This is the HIA's way of saying 'thank you' to companies that have successfully met competitive challenges, have had a significant community impact, and have made commitments to growth on Long Island."

Sponsors of this event include FedEx, Newsday, Hoffmann and Baron, LLP, Stony Brook University, North Fork Bank, Fuoco Group, Girl Scouts of Suffolk County and People’s Alliance Federal Credit Union.
